Children grow up so fast! I have four wonderful children and I can remember when they were babies as if it was yesterday and I miss it so much. I remember the first time seeing my children, holding them, feeding them, and the first time they walked. But as we get older some of those memories fade. There are a lot of first-time experiences with your children that you may want to hold on to that your good old brain just won’t be good for and if it wasn’t for my camcorder and still images I couldn’t go back to certain days. In this contributed post we will talk about some first-time experiences with your child that you may want to have a recording device handy…

Throughout our lives, we embrace a lot of strange, new and wonderful things. Whether it’s our first love, the argument fight with our partner or even the first time we really feel like we’ve achieved something, those feelings we experience stick with us for a long time. They change us and shape the way we are, and it’s important that we cherish those memories whether they are good or bad.

When having a child, there are many life-defining moments for both you and your little one that you never want to miss or forget. Thanks to modern technology, it’s never been easier to just take out a smartphone and start recording a special moment in history that you can recall at any time in the future. In this article, we’ll be exploring just a few of them so that you can always be prepared.

Your Child’s Birth

While it might sound gruesome and bloody, recording the moments of your child’s birth can be incredibly special. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience and that moment you hold your child in your arms for the first time is one to cherish. Reliving the moment can be both scary, memorable and even humorous. It’s a gift unlike anything you could receive and watching yourself pull through the woes of pregnancy is inspirational.

Whether you keep it private or share it with loved ones is up to you, but it will be a great way to look back to when your family first started. If you think that you’ll be too exhausted to do this yourself, then consider hiring a pregnancy photographer. Not only will it be much easier, you’ll also get plenty of amazing pictures from a professional that knows what they’re doing.

Your Child’s First Steps

While it used to be difficult to record the exact moment your child got on their two feet, it’s simple to cherish that moment now thanks to our smartphones. Does your child look like they’re about to crawl away and get on their own two feet? Quickly bring out your smartphone and hit that record button. You might not be lucky or quick enough to catch the exact moment they rise up, but you can definitely record your reaction to it.

Your Child’s First Christmas

Christmas might not be a concept that your children understand straight away, but when they realize what a magical and special time it can be, it’s time to start recording. Whether it’s your child’s first Christmas gift or their very first time on a bike, it’s important that you try and record these memories. The moment they scream in excitement at getting the latest video game console or toy that they’ve been asking for is something special that will make you melt. They serve as a reminder of more innocent times and they make great videos to show your kids when they grow older.

Being a mother can be full of surprises and excitement. It’s important to try and cherish those memories so you can reflect on them in the future. They can serve as inspirational videos, they can be great to look back on with your partner and family members, and they’re first-time experiences that you simply don’t want to miss!

First time experiences with our children are exactly that, the first. Though there will be many more, you will never get to experience it in the same way that you did the very first time. My husband and I still sit and talk about the birth of children or the first time our children did this and that.

As a parent, these memories of our children bring us great joy and we hold them dear to our hearts. But having an image whether still or moving can bring the experience alive all over again. And no matter how many times you watch it you relive it all over again.

I have this recording of this dance my son learned to do, it was the first one he learned and it is the funniest thing to watch. You remember the first time feeding your child their baby food? Don’t you wish you had recorded it? Just little moments like that will last a lifetime.

Your child’s first holiday is something I am sure you would love to watch again. Can you imagine seeing the look of excitement on their face or maybe even yours? I still can remember the look on my oldest sons face when all of the adults gathered around him waiting for him to open presents on Christmas Day. I think we were more excited than he was.

As our children grow there will be many first time experiences you can enjoy together and you do not want to miss out on them. With how advanced technology is nowadays there is no reason you should.

    1. Hi Cassandra,
You are rights phones do only have so much storage but you can use an SD card. Investing in a good camcorder is a good investment because you will use it for years to come. There will be so many opportunities to record your child and you will enjoy having those recording for the rest of your life.
